About Me

MY STEPS TOWARDS
CREATIVE IMMERSIVE TRAVEL

Learning to embrace creativity and curiosity for more meaningful travel.

WELCOME!

Hi! I’m Linda – I was bitten by the travel bug at a young age listening to my mother’s stories of her own travels. They opened up the world for me, and I couldn’t wait to have my own adventures!

Everything about my first trip overseas at 16 years captivated me – the languages I was hearing, the food I was tasting, the local customs I was learning about: that experience planted a seed that has shaped my life since.

My journey is a winding one that has inevitably left me feeling stuck and unsure of what was next at times; overwhelmed by ‘responsibility’ or life commitments and wishing the world could just stop for a moment so I could think.

Sometimes I just felt completely uninspired wondering where my ‘curious self’ had got to, and more recently through peri/menopause, there are days I have been wondering if I have lost control of my life completely!

For over 30 years I have lived a life of change stepping into the unknown as I left South Africa travelling across the continents working or studying, navigating major career changes from scientist to project manager across different sectors – including 15 years in the design sector.

During emigration to Australia and a sabbatical pause in Japan, I have always been driven forward by the question:
Is this what I really want right now?

WHAT LED ME HERE?

There has been no single ‘lightbulb moment’ along my journey, but rather a gradual realisation over the years that in all this time it is travel that has been my constant companion – like a trusted friend. It is in the difficult moments that I just know deep down that I NEED to travel.

It is the creative immersive experiences during my travels that have allowed me to slow down, engage all my senses, and connect more deeply with the people and places I was visiting.

Be it learning to cook a new recipe, joining workshops to learn from local craftspeople, or getting behind the scenes access to galleries, attending cultural festivals with locals, or simply taking the time to just soak it all in.

  • “This kind of travel gives me the time I need to reconnect with myself
and by engaging with the world creatively and curiously
I find a space where I can hear myself again
    and see things more clearly.
I call this creative immersive travel

and believe it is a valuable tool for personal growth.”
